David Hockney

Kunstmuseum Den Haag presenteert in 2026, in samenwerking met Tate, de grote overzichtstentoonstelling London Calling. Voor het eerst in Nederland worden hoogtepunten van de naoorlogse Britse schilderkunst in een overzicht getoond – schilderijen van onder meer Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, R.B.Kitaj, David Hockney en Paula Rego. 

 

In 2026, Kunstmuseum Den Haag presents London Calling. Representing the first major survey of its kind in the Netherlands, the exhibition brings together highlights of postwar British figurative painting, including works by Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, David Hockney R.B.Kitaj and Paula Rego. Organised in collaboration with Tate, London Calling offers a snapshot of twentieth century London.

De werken van Aline Thomassen zijn van groot formaat en veranderen de museumzaal in een collectief van vrouwen, met ruimte voor zowel kracht als kwetsbaarheid. Thomassen is de winnaar van de Ouborg Prijs 2024, dé Haagse stadsprijs voor beeldende kunst. In Shape of the Heart Aline Thomassen is een overzicht te zien van vijftien jaar uit haar oeuvre.

Aline Thomassen woont en werkt afwisselend in Nederland en Marokko. Haar werk verkent de talloze manieren waarop Marokkaanse vrouwen hun identiteit beleven en uitdrukken. 

Aline Thomassen presents large-scale works that transform the museum’s Projects Gallery into a collective of women, shown in all their strength and vulnerability. Thomassen is the winner of the 2024 Ouborg Prize, The Hague’s most important visual arts award. Shape of the Heart offers an overview of Thomassen’s work from the past fifteen years.

Aline Thomassen lives and works between the Netherlands and Morocco. Her work explores the many ways in which Moroccan women experience and express their identity.

Vlaams expressionisme. Een tentoonstelling in Kunstmuseum Den Haag.
Op het Vlaamse platteland lijken na de Eerste Wereldoorlog de roaring twenties op het eerste gezicht ver weg. Maar wie goed luistert hoort de jazz over de rivier de Leie schallen... De moderne wereld dringt steeds meer door, ook in de schilderijen van Gustave De Smet (1877-1943) en Frits Van den Berghe (1883-1939). Zij behoren tot de belangrijkste schilders van wat in de jaren 1920 het 'Vlaamse expressionisme' wordt genoemd, en brengen de moderne figuratieve schilderkunst in België tot een hoogtepunt.

At first sight, the Roaring Twenties seem a world away from the Flemish countryside in the aftermath of the First World War. But if you listen carefully, you can hear the strains of jazz crossing the Leie river... The modern world is making inroads, also in the paintings of Gustave De Smet (1877-1943) and Frits Van den Berghe (1883-1939). They were the leading figures in what would come to be known as Flemish Expressionism and brought modern figurative painting in Belgium to its high point.
