NORTH & SOUTH

NORTH & SOUTH. Zowel in het uiterste noorden als in het uiterste zuiden van Europa blijken nog unieke middeleeuwse kunstwerken bewaard gebleven. De zeldzame kunstwerken uit Catalonië en Noorwegen waren  te zien in de tentoonstelling NORTH & SOUTH in het Catharijne Convent Utrecht. Spectaculaire en zeldzame kunst uit de twaalfde tot veertiende eeuw (1100-1350). Ondanks hun mijlenverre afstand lijken de topstukken enorm veel op elkaar!

NORTH & SOUTH.  Both in the far North (Norway) and far South (Spain) of Europe medieval masterpieces have survived that are remarkably similar despite the great distance that separates them. In the exhibion NORTH & SOUTH  these rare works of art from the period 1100-1350 were on display at Museum Catharijne Convent Utrecht NL.

Beeldengalerij St Martin in Besse Dordogne

De kerk van St. Martin in het dorp Besse in de Dordogne werd gebouwd in de late 11e eeuw. Ooit als een Benedictijner klooster. Het portaal bij de ingang is bewerkt met een complete middeleeuwse beeldengalerij.

The church of St Martin, Besse, Dordogne dates from the late 11thc. It was part of a Benedictine priory, replaced by Augustines in the 13thc. The portal shows a full medieval sculpture gallery.

Wereldberoemd zijn de Nana’s van de Franse beeldhouwer Niki de Saint Phalle (1930 – 2002).
Museum Beelden aan Zee in Scheveningen toont de ontwikkeling van de Nana’s sinds 1965 in al hun diversiteit.

Who is not familiar with Nana, the world-famous, colorful women figures who happily go about dancing and jumping as pure expressions of energy. Nana is timeless. Museum Beelden aan Zee in The Hague / Scheveningen is showing the Nanas in all their diversity since 1965.
