Popel Coumou, Papier en Licht. Was een tentoonstelling in Fotomuseum Den Haag.
Kunstenaar-fotograaf Popel Coumou (1978) speelt in haar werk met de
belangrijkste elementen van de fotografie: licht, papier en de perceptie
van de werkelijkheid. Door haar collages van papier gericht te
belichten voegt zij aan het papieren reliëf een derde dimensie toe. Zo
komt het platte vlak tot leven.

Popel Coumou constructs works using layers of paper that are positioned
over and alongside each other. The visual effect is graphic and playful.
Her lines, surfaces and colours join forces in an organic way, while
also imparting a certain tension to the image. Although the work is
built up using layers of paper, the result is a photograph.
