Johan Maelwael

Een tentoonstelling vol middeleeuwse pracht: Johan Maelwael. Het Rijksmuseum eert daarmee de eerste Nederlandse schilder. Opgeleid in het hertogdom Gelre, beleefde Johan Maelwael (1370 - 1415) ruim zeshonderd jaar geleden zijn hoogtijdagen als schilder van de machtige hertogen aan het Bourgondische hof.

An exhibition full of medieval splendour. Rijksmuseum Amsterdam honors the first Northern Netherlandish painter: Johan Maelwael (c. 1370 - 1415), who was an artist at the courts of the Dukes of Guelders and Burgundy around 1400.
