Joan Miró (1893 - 1983) was een van de meest invloedrijke kunstenaars van de twintigste eeuw. De Catalaanse grootmeester doorbrak artistieke grenzen door onder andere schilderkunst te verweven met poëzie. Zijn surrealistische voorstellingen zitten vol mysterieuze tekens en symbolen. Deze onbegrensde verbeeldingskracht kenmerkt ook Miró’s sculpturen.

Joan Miró (1893 - 1983) was one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. The Catalan master broke artistic boundaries, by merging painting with poetry. His surrealistic representations are filled with mysterious signs and symbols. This unbound creativity also characterizes the sculptures which Miró created.

In het Utrechtse museum Museum Catharijneconvent vertoont de tentoonstelling "In de ban van de Middeleeuwen" zeldzame middeleeuwse meesterwerken uit drie absolute topcollecties: Kasteel de Haar, Kasteel Huis Bergh en Museum Catharijneconvent.

Beatriz González War and Peace

Beatriz González (1932) is the grand dame of contemporary South American art and
an iconic cultural figure in her homeland of Colombia. War and Peace: A Poetics of Gesture provides an overview of the many decades of her impressive career.

González's palette echoes the colours of her native country. In the early 1990s, in response to the growing number of atrocities and political incidents taking place in Colombia, her work became darker and more radical in nature.

Beatriz González (1932) is de grande dame van de hedendaagse Zuid-Amerikaanse kunst en een culturele sleutelfiguur van haar geboorteland Colombia. War and Peace: A Poetics of Gesture geeft een overzicht van haar indrukwekkende oeuvre.

Haar kleurenpalet ontleent ze aan de kleuren van haar land. Door de toenemende wreedheden en politieke incidenten in Colombia nam zij begin jaren negentig een
meer donkere, radicale stellingname in.
